Mark Villar became a trending topic after netizens slammed Richard Gomez
Senator Mark Villar shared a Facebook post back in 2021 about the Metro Manila traffic and this was recalled by netizens following the now-deleted post shared by Letye 4th District Congressman Richard Gomez about EDSA traffic.
Richard was slammed by netizens after his post on Facebook complaining about being stuck in heavy traffic on the busiest highway in the Philippines. He also took notice of the bus lane that did not sit well with many netizens.
Because of this, Richard became one of the top trending topics on X, formerly Twitter. Netizens criticized him for sounding like an entitled individual.
Aside from Richard Gomez, Mark Villar also became a trending topic on the micro-blogging social media platform.
It is because of the Facebook post he shared in 2021. In his post, the political figure said, “By 2022, Metro Manila traffic will never be the same. Every city in Metro Manila will be connected within a 20 to 30 min time frame.”
Back then, Sen. Mark was still the Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways. He served during for five years during the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Netizens on X said that Richard Gomez could have aired his complaint to the former DPWH Secretary who promised the improvement of traffic in Metro Manila years ago. Some netizens also used this issue to call out Sen. Mark regarding his statement when he was still a secretary of the said department.
Some netizens mentioned his political tagline “Si Mark tahimik lang.” Netizens said that he is too silent that they weren’t able to hear the update on his 2021 statement.
