SB19 and BINI are making waves
SB19, known as the P-pop Kings, has this reaction to the success that Nation’s Girl Group BINI has been achieving.
P-pop or Pinoy Pop has been dominating the music industry in recent years. Boy groups and girl groups are gaining popularity in mainstream media and breaking music records. The fame that these groups are gaining is not just confined to the Philippine music industry as the global scene started embracing them.
However, competition could be fierce among fandoms. Fan wars can happen as issues could arise among groups.
Just recently, a conflict happened between the fans of SB19 known as A’TIN, and Blooms, the fans of BINI. It was because of the viral statement made by TV Patrol anchor Karen Davila who said that BINI’s success is good as they will open the door to the global scene for other groups.
This did not sit well with A’TIN because, for them, this statement invalidated all the hardships that the P-pop Kings had done first to bring P-Pop to the international audience. Eventually, Karen Davila clarified her statement and stressed that it was SB19 who opened the doors for P-pop to be known internationally.
Despite the so-called fan wars, both groups are openly supporting each other. It can be seen through various concerts or shows that they are in that there is no issue between them.
In a recent interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, the King of Talk asked Mahalima this last question, “Sikat na sikat ngayon ang BINI, how is it affecting you?”
They answered they are happy about this. “Masayang masaya po kami na nako-consider na talaga ang P-pop at mga groups na yan kasi deserve nila,” Josh Cullen said.
Pablo pointed out that it takes a village and to promote something, everyone should help each other. He also said that it is something to be proud of that other groups are gaining popularity now. Ken added, “And they worked hard for it.”
