Kapuso actor Paolo Contis has an upcoming movie called “Dear Satan” but this title will be changed because of the controversy it stirred.
The producers of the upcoming film “Dear Satan” addresses the backlash their upcoming film faced because of the title. This movie created a loud buzz online as many people online expressed that the title might send a wrong message to children.
Christian Groups condemned “Dear Satan” featuring Paolo Contis, Aya Fernandez, and Shienna Stevens. This story is about the story of Chichi who accidentally sent her letter to Satan instead of Santa Claus. This story revolves around the power of faith and how goodness can triumph over evil because of faith.
Other people noted that the movie might “portray Satan in a positive light” which is a contradicting thought to the teachings from the Bible. In a statement on Facebook on Friday, August 23, the film’s production company, Mavx Productions Inc., apologized to viewers. Their statement is to address the buzz the title created online.
“Dear esteemed viewers, we hope this message finds you in good spirits. We are reaching out to address some concerns that have been brought to our attention regarding our recent film, ‘Dear Satan,’” the statement began.
They apologized to people who got offended and were in discomfort as it’s never their intention to hurt or disrespect anyone’s religious beliefs. The statement explained that they only want to “explore the theme between good versus evil” through the perspective of an innocent child who is “guided by faith and the goodness of the Lord”.
The movie wanted to show that evil is present in the world but faith and virtue can still prevail. They understood the concerns which is why they decided to change the title to “better reflect” the message the movie intended to relay to the viewers and to “honor the sensitivities of all our viewers”.
