Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is the one who holds the highest position in the government among the Duterte siblings. Their youngest brother, Baste Duterte, is currently the mayor of Davao City.

However, amid being one of the most politically-powerful families in the Philippines, the Dutertes are facing several accusations. Pulong Duterte is even linked to a multi-billion drug case.

Former Customs Intelligence officer Jimmy Guban claimed that Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte, and Atty. Mans Carpio, the husband of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, are allegedly involved in the case.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Vice Pres. Duterte believes that the accusations against her husband and her brother have something to do with politics. Meanwhile, the Vice President assured that she will not intervene on the issue.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte expressed her belief that the linking of her husband and her brother to the multi-billion drug shipment is a sort of “political attacks”. Based on the report, she cited that the accusation came after she left the helm of the Department of Education.

Duterte also claimed that the issue came out when she was already speaking about what should be done to the country. The Duterte family has recently gathered for the birthday of their matriarch, Elizabeth Zimmerman-Duterte, but they did not talk about politics.

Vice Pres. Duterte resigned as the DepEd Secretary a few months ago. She also left her post as the vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.

Amid the issues, there are questions on the relationship between Pres. Bongbong Marcos and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte which she recently referred to as “no label”. The Vice President has not be seen with the President for quite a while now. She also skipped the State of the Nation Address or SONA of the Chief Executive last July.

Previously, Vice Pres. Duterte said that her reasons for leaving the Marcos cabinet includes both personal and work reasons that have mixed up. The President expressed acceptance on the move of the Vice President not to rejoin his cabinet which he tagged as “her decision”.
