On August 1, 2024, Eduardo Gille, a 63-year-old former pastor, went missing after leaving home following a disagreement with his wife. His worried family searched for him and even made public appeals, but days passed with no sign of Eduardo.

On August 8, 2024, a half-body was found washed up on the shore of Burgos, Pangasinan. The Gille family, desperate for closure, identified the body as Eduardo’s based on the belt and the feet, which looked similar to their missing relative.
Believing they had found him, they brought the body home, held a wake, and then laid it to rest in the local cemetery.
Just when they thought they had said their final goodbyes, Eduardo shocked everyone by walking through the door of their home on August 10, 2024. His sudden return left his family and the entire community in disbelief.

Eduardo explained that he had been on a mission in Alaminos City and was unaware that his family believed he was dead.
His unexpected return prompted the family to organize the exhumation of the buried remains in order to determine who the person was. Currently, they are focused on finding answers and properly honoring the person they mistakenly thought was Eduardo.
