Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto confronted the Pasig protest leader.
VICO SOTTO – Quezon City people protesting in Pasig? The Pasig mayor confronted market vendors’ leader Baldo Balbadores.
Currently, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto is facing controversies regarding the plan to construct a new city hall worth Php 6 billion. On August 12, the mayor was met with protesters rallying against this plan but later on, he found out some inconsistencies.
Based on the videos circulating online, he found out that some of the protesters were from Quezon City. He was in amusement to discover that QC people are protesting in Pasig.
The rally was organized by a group called ‘Save Pasig Org’. In the video, he had a conversation with some of them and when he asked who among them was from Quezon City, several raised their hands with “Woohoo!” expressions.
“Ok lang ang katanungan pero sawa na tayo sa dirty tactics. Lumalabas sa imbestigasyon na pinahakot sila ng isang political group dito,” Sotto expressed.
He understands that people have the right to ask especially the involved amount is hefty, however, such strategy are what he considered as dirty tactics in politics. He also met with market vendors’ leader Baldo Balbadores and the latter was denying that he came with protesters from Quezon City.
Balbadores had a megaphone when he started the rally at 10 AM but denied the “hakot” protesters. The Pasig mayor, on the other hand, insisted that he can present video as proof that he was with the “hakot” protesters. Despite the tension, Sotto remained calm and patient in dealing with them.
“Nagkataon lang na kasama mo yung hakot? Nasa sampung van yung dumaan diyan!” he expressed clearly not convinced with the explanation of the leader.
Meanwhile, one of the protesters holding ‘No to X billion’ tarpaulin revealed that they were fetched in Brgy. Holy Spirit in Quezon City but did not disclose what was the exchange for their attendance in the rally.
