Olympic Gold Medalist Carlos Yulo Says He’s Long Forgiven Mom Angelica
CARLOS YULO – The Olympic double gold medalist reacted to the press conference of his mother, Angelica Yulo, on their family issues.
Following his double gold medal win in the 2024 Paris Olympics, multi-million rewards await Caloy in his return to the Philippines. Not only the Philippine government but as well as several private entities want to show the record-maker their appreciation of the pride and honor he has given the Philippines.
On Saturday, August 3, 2024, Caloy won his first Olympic gold in men’s floor exercise. It was followed by another Olympic gold win the next day in men’s vault events making him the first Filipino to win two Olympic gold medals for the country.
Caloy is also the first male athlete to win Olympic gold medals for the Philippines. More than Php 33 million cash rewards await him in the country. Megaworld also pledged to give Carlos Yulo a Php 32-million worth condo unit with furniture and fixtures.
However, amid the Filipino people rejoicing the double gold win of Carlos Yulo in the 2024 Paris Olympics, the issues between him and his mother, Angelica Yulo, surfaced. It is now no secret to the public that the mother and son have a rift.
Carlos also claimed that his mother disapproves his relationship with his girlfriend, Chloe San Jose. There are also money issues between the Olympian and his mom.
During a press conference that was livestreamed by the different media networks, Carlos’ mother also admitted that he has blocked her son on Messenger and they are not friends on social media. The public noticed that she has not posted anything about Caloy even his recent double gold win in the Olympics.
Angelica Yulo apologized to her son and expressed that their family’s house is open in case he wants to talk to them, his parents, when he gets home. She also congratulated him on his Olympics win but she still has to ponder on unblocking him on Messenger.
Based on a report on GMA News, Carlos Yulo was asked about the press conference of his mother in an interview with 24 Oras anchor Mel Tiangco. The Olympic double gold medalists said that he has already forgiven his mother long ago.
Caloy also expressed that his issue with his mother is a personal problem which he does not want to talk about. Instead, based on the report, the Filipino gymnast stressed that being in the Olympics, he wants to celebrate the hard work and achievement of the atheletes. He also expressed his pride on the Filipino athletes who either won or lost in their respective sports events.
“Alam ko may mga natalo tayo sa ibang atleta pero sobrang proud po ako sa
kanila sa dedication, effort, and pag-show up po nila sa araw na ‘yun.
Nasa inyo ang suporta ko, mahal na mahal ko kayo,” Caloy said.
