CARLOS YULO – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. reacted to the olympic gold medal win of gymnast Carlos “Caloy” Yulo.

Carlos Edriel Yulo is a Filipino artistic gymnast who has gained international recognition for his achievements in the sport. He started gymnastics at the age of seven.

His potential was evident early on, and he trained under the Philippine national gymnastics team. He later moved to Japan to train under Japanese coach Munehiro Kugimiya, a decision that significantly advanced his skills and performance.

Carlos Yulo made history as the first Filipino gymnast to medal at the Summer Olympics, capturing gold in the men’s floor exercise at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Saturday at Bercy Arena.

The 24-year-old gymnastics star achieved an impressive score of 15.000 points, with 6.600 for difficulty and 8.400 for execution, securing the top spot and earning the country’s first medal of the ongoing Games.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. praised Yulo on Saturday evening for earning the Philippines’ first-ever Olympic medal in gymnastics at the Paris Olympics.

“We’ve witnessed history as Carlos Yulo clinched the Philippines’ first GOLD medal in artistic gymnastics at the Paris 2024 Olympics. I am confident that it will not be the last,” PBBM said on FB.

“Congratulations, Caloy! The entire country stands proud with you!” he added.

Following Carlos Yulo’s victory, the House of Representatives announced a P3 million reward for his extraordinary achievement, confirmed by House appropriations panel chair Rep. Elizaldy Co (Ako Bicol).

Yulo is the Philippines’ second-ever Olympic gold medalist, following weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, who achieved the milestone at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
