Kylie Verzosa continues to advocate mental health awareness
Miss International 2016 and actress Kylie Verzosa talked about her fight to spread mental health awareness.
Kylie’s advocacy did not stop after her reign. As a beauty queen, she promoted the importance of taking care of one’s mental health and she is still doing this until now. She personally pays much attention to her mental health.
In a recent interview, based on the article in ABS-CBN, Kylie opened up about the negativities thrown at her on social media.
The actress said that negative comments will always be there and she just accepts that she is not for everyone. Kylie Verzosa stressed that she will just focus on the things she can control which are herself, her decisions, her body, and how she works out.
These past months, Kylie received negative comments about her body. Some netizens pointed out that she is too skinny already and other body-shaming comments.
Despite the bashing that she received, Kylie is now celebrating her newly launched undergarment business and for her, this is very rewarding. It is because it highlights the different body types of women and shows that whatever figure is beautiful.
Since day 1 in her pageant journey, Kylie shared that she already decided to push for mental health awareness as her advocacy. “There was a lot of backlash, maybe because it was kind of the first during my time. But I stuck to it, and that’s what I speak about now,” she recalled the reactions she received back then for having this advocacy.
After being crowned Miss International 2016, Kylie Verzosa established her own mental health organization, Mental Health Matters. She said that her organization will continue to support and provide help to those who are suffering from mental health problems. The actress also said that they will continue to launch projects.
