2NE1 Reunites For Global Tour
2NE1 CONCERT – In honor of their 15th anniversary, K-pop group 2NE1 has announced that they will reunite for a world tour, according to YG Entertainment.
K-pop girl group 2NE1 is reuniting for their 15th anniversary concert and a world tour later this year, as announced by their label YG Entertainment.
In a video shared on their social media, YG Entertainment’s CEO Yang Hyun-suk revealed plans for a concert series featuring 2NE1. The group consists of Bom, CL, Minzy, and Dara, also known as Sandara Park in the Philippines. Sandara Park gained fame as a talent show contestant before becoming a successful actress and singer in her home country of South Korea.
2NE1 recently had their first meeting with Yang in eight years at the agency’s headquarters in Seoul on Thursday, June 27.
“I’d like to share in this interview that the first successful YG female group was 2NE1. The members of 2NE1 told me that they’d like to hold a concert commemorating their 15th anniversary. So we caught up and happily discussed making it all happen within this year,” said Yang.
The YG founder revealed that 2NE1’s anniversary show will take place in Seoul in October and that a performance space has been reserved for the end of November and December in Osaka and Tokyo, Japan.
“We’re in the process of adjusting schedules for further performances. I think this concert will be quite special. It resonates with those who grew up with 2NE1’s music, sharing those memories. And in the case of 2NE1, they have an incredible number of hit songs, so all the staff are working hard together to create a successful show,” Yang said.
After making their YG Entertainment debut in 2009 and creating hits including “I Don’t Care” and “Ugly,” the quartet broke up in November 2016. “Good Bye,” the group’s final single, was made available in January 2017.
