Atty. Stephen David, Alice Guo’s Lawyer, Reacts To Intrigues Vs. Mayor
ALICE GUO’S LAWYER – Attorney Stephen David confirmed that he has talked with the suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor over the phone.
Since the Senate arrest order against suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo was released last July 13, the upper chamber’s Office f the Sergeant-At-Arms has yet to locate the Mayor. They visited all of Guo’s registered addresses but found negative presence of the Mayor.
The Senate cited Mayor Guo for contempt after she skipped the Senate hearings last June 26 and July 10. According to Mayor Alice Guo’s lawyer, Attorney Stephen David, the Mayor was “traumatized” from the way she was treated in the previous hearings.
Furthermore, David also said that Guo is both physically and emotionally drained from the many accusations against her. He hopes that the Mayor will surrender to the Senate authorities to avoid being tagged as “fugitive”.
According to David, the Mayor is worried about security. Senate President Chiz Escudero previously assured the security for Guo in case she will be arrested by the Senate authorities.
The Senate authorities have yet to locate Guo. They have also visited the farm and the garments factories of the suspended Mayor but they did not find her there.
Recently, Atty. Stephen David confirmed that he was able to talk to Mayor Alice Guo over the phone. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Mayor Alice Guo’s lawyer said that she has yet to decide if she will surrender to the Senate or she will show up in the next Senate hearing set.
“Wala pa siyang ganoong commitment sa atin. Siyempre ayaw namang maging fugitive for life, di ba?” the lawyer said.
The next Senate hearing is set on July 29. According to Mayor Alice Guo’s lawyer, the Mayor is still in the Philippines and those statements that she flew abroad are just speculations.
Furthermore, based on the report, David welcomes the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR) investigation on his client. According to the lawyer, the claim that the Mayor has billions as well as multiple accounts is just a “black propaganda”. He believes that it will be debunked once the BIR will release its assessment.
“Kasi makikita nila ano pala ‘yung takbo ng operasyon ng mga companies nila. So, legit,” David said.
