Nyoy Volante talked about being a singing contest judge
Singer-theater actor Nyoy Volante revealed that being a “hurado” in It’s Showtime‘s Tawag ng Tanghalan is a difficult job.
Nyoy has been in the industry for many years now. Aside from being a singer, he also ventured into theater acting. Among the biggest stints he did on TV was being a judge in the singing competition in the Kapamilya noontime show.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PUSH, Nyoy shared that theater singing is difficult for him. It is because the music he creates is different from the music used in theater.
The songs he usually sings are very soft even though he is hitting the high notes. On the other hand, in theater, Nyoy Volante said that he really throws his voice out and this is exhausting.
Returning to the theater after quite some time is difficult for Nyoy. He had to adjust his voice again to what the theater required him to do.
Talking about his job as a “hurado” in TNT, Nyoy shared that he was there when the singing contest segment started. He is that he is proud to be part of one of the most respected singing contests in the country that has been there for many years now.
Nyoy also said that there were a lot who had come and gone already but seeing all these made him feel proud and happy. He is also grateful to be part of this. The singer said that being a judge is a tough job.
He said that people might think that it is easy as they just have to choose the winner. However, Nyoy pointed out that as hurados, they take their responsibility seriously. The viewers should understand that the future of the contestant will be based on their judgment. “So we try to, as much as possible, to be as fair as we can,” the singer said.
Nyoy Volante stressed that they are humans too and their mistakes could be noticed. He also said that people did not notice that the judges were arguing with their decisions and sometimes even the staff members were part of the discussion if they could have more than one winner.
The singer pointed out that they may not make the best decision all the time, but people can’t say that they did not work hard for their decision. “Talagang napakahirap nung kinatatayuan ng mga hurado dahil siniseryoso talaga namin,” he said.
