Vice Pres. Duterte Turns Over Post as DepEd Secretary To Sen. Angara

DUTERTE – Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio jested to new Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara at the turn-over ceremony.

Over a month ago, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte-Carpio resigned from being the DepEd secretary. She also left her post as vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.

Vice Pres. Duterte did not reveal the reason behind her decision to leave the helm of the Department of Education. According to her, the said move is out of compassion to the teachers and to the students.

Senator Sonny Angara was appointed by President Bongbong Marcos to replace the Vice President as the secretary of DepEd. Recently, a turn-over ceremony was held at the DepEd Complex in Pasig City.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte passed on the seal of the Department of Education and the flag to new DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara. Based on a report on GMA News, the Vice President jested to the new education Secretary.

“We would like to warmly welcome Secretary Sonny Angara to the Department of Education family. Welcome to the chaos, Sec.,” the Vice President said.

Based on the article, prior to the turn-over ceremony held at the DepEd Complex in Pasig City, the Vice President toured the new DepEd Secretary inside the building of the Department of Education. In her last speech as the education secretary, she highlighted the programs implemented during her two-year service in DepEd.

Vice Pres. Duterte mentioned the Matatag agenda, the K to 10 Matatag Curriculum, the launching of the National Learning Recovery Plan, the review of the Senior High School curriculum, and the return of the in-person classes for 27 million students in the country.

The Vice President admitted that there are programs that were not finished under her two-year tenure in the Department of Education. She leaves it in the hands of the new DepEd Secretary. Meanwhile, based on the report, on his first speech as the DepEd Secretary, Angara said that they will build from what the previous administration has started.

The new DepEd Chief vowed to do everything to achieve the changes and reform that are in line with a new Philippines. He is determined to push for a high quality education in the country for the students.
