Authorities Fail To Locate Mayor Alice Guo amid Arrest Order

ALICE GUO – The hunt for the suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor continues and the next hearing is set on July 29, 2024.

After she was cited for contempt, the Senate released an arrest order against suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Guo. Senate President Chiz Escudero gave his green signal on the arrest of the suspended Mayor.

Guo was cited for contempt after she skipped the July 10 hearing set by the Senate. According to Attorney Stephen David, the legal counsel of the suspended Mayor, she is “traumatized” and “drained”.

Before she was cited for contempt, Senator Risa Hontiveros reminded the Mayor and her camp of their obligation to respect the Philippine laws. Senate President Chiz Escudero also reminded that anyone summoned by the Senate does not have the free call whether or not to attend the hearing.

Following the release of the arrest order against Mayor Alice Guo, the Senate’s Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms or the OSAA was ordered to serve the arrest orders within 24 hours. There are seven other individuals with arrest orders.

Only Nancy Gamo, the accountant of Guo, was arrested. The authorities visited all the registered addresses of the suspended Mayor Guo but only found negative presence. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Escudero vowed to continue the hunt for the suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor.

Sen. Hontiveros believes that someone is probably hiding Mayor Alice Guo. According to Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian, the Mayor may be having a deeper reason for not surrendering to the authorities.

Gatchalian believes that Guo is still in the Philippines as there is a hold departure order against her. Based on the report, the next hearing is set on July 29. The Senate is also set to investigate the potential ties of the Pharmally with the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).

Guo’s lawyer, Atty. Stephen David, previously expressed that the Mayor is contempleting on whether or not to attend the next hearing. Sen. Escudero assured Guo of her security during detention in the Senate.
