Sassa Gurl is part of Marian Rivera’s new film
Content creator Sassa Gurl had the chance to work with Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera in the Cinemalaya film Balota.
From being a social media personality, Sassa was able to receive various endorsement and showbiz projects. He is known for his funny videos that would easily get the attention of the online community.
His popularity swelled when he was chosen as the 2022 White Castle Calendar Model. In the same year, he won an award for his online seller outfit at the Sparkle Spell Ball.
This year, Sassa Gurl had his big acting break when he was chosen to be in the cast of Balota. This movie showcased the different side of Marian Rivera, who was known for her drama and romantic comedy projects in the past.
Previously, Marian revealed that she chose not to have a stunt double for intense scenes. She wanted her portrayal of the character of a teacher who did everything to protect a ballot box to be realistic as possible.
In this project that had a great effect to Marian, Sassa also felt the positive reaction. In an interview, based on the article in GMA Entertainment, the content creator said that it was a dream come true for him to work with Marian.
He also admitted that the past roles of the Kapuso Primetime Queen have been a fantasy for gays like him. “Bilang isang bakla, ‘yan ang kinalakihan ko rin kasi alam mo na Darna, Marimar. Bakla, fantasy talaga namin ‘yan. Super thankful talaga ako,” he shared.
Sassa also shared that aside from it was a dream come true for him to work with Marian, he is happy to that working with the actress was a breeze. He said that it was easy working with the A-list actress and everyone on the set also felt the same. There was no heaviness while they were filming.
Balota is directed by Kip Oebanda and this will be shown at the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival from August 2 to August 11. Also included in the cast are Will Ashley, Royce Cabrera, Raheel Bhyria, Gardo Versoza, Mae Paner, Nico Antonio, Donna Cariaga, Joel Saracho, Sue Prado, and Esnyr.
