Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo Celebrates Birthday
ALICE GUO – The suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor who recently celebrated her birthday took to social media a lengthy statement.
Currently, one of the issues in the Philippine political arena that hooks a lot of attention from the public is the alleged involvement of suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Guo in the illegal Philippine offshore gaming operations (POGO) in her town.
Aside from her alleged involvement in POGOs in Tarlac, Guo is also facing questions about her identity. Previously, the National Bureau of Investigation or NBI confirmed that Mayor Alice Guo’s fingerprints also matched the fingerprints of Guo Hua Ping. It suggests that they are the same person.
Mayor Guo skipped the latest Senate hearing as she is allegedly “traumatized” by how she was dealth as per her lawyer. The said claim was not bought by the lawmakers as Senator Risa Hontiveros reminded the Mayor and her camp prior to the hearing of their obligations to respect the law.
Sen. Hontiveros also downplayed the “self-incrimination” claim of Guo’s camp saying that the Supreme Court only recognize self-incrimination if there is a question raised. Following her absence to the Senate hearing, Guo was cited in contempt.
A letter addressed to the Senate President must be written by the Senate committee that cited Guo in contempt. Once approved, an arrest order may be released against the suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor.
Recently, Mayor Alice Guo celebrated her birthday. She took to social media a heartfelt and lengthy statement expressing her gratitude to her fellow officials and her constituents in Bamban, Tarlac.
According to the suspended Mayor, she did not regret entering politics but she was greatly hurt by politics that she almost lost herself. Meanwhile, she expressed her gratitude for the unending support of the people of Bamban to her despite all the allegations against her.
Guo, in her lengthy post, detailed her messages of gratitude for Bamban, her local government unit (LGU) family, the Sangguniang Bayan members, the baranggay officials, the youth of Bamban, the school teachers and staff, the senior citizens, the businessmen and women in the town, the farmers, the jeepney and tricycle drivers, the LGBTQIA+ members, and the religious sector. The assets of Mayor Alice Guo is under a Freeze Order by the Court of Appeals. Guo is also facing money-laundering charges after millions were transferred in her multiple bank accounts for years.
