Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera talked about doing the Cinemalaya film Balota and the importance of voting.

\Marian played the character of a teacher in the said film who went through threats and danger just to protect a ballot box. Previously, the A-list actress shared that she refused to have a stunt double in difficult scenes. This was the reason why she had some cuts and bruises on her body.

Marian wanted to play the character as realistic as possible. She received praise from her director. Direk Kip Oebanda revealed that the actress wanted to use the real ballot box, despite it was heavy and was bumping on her body while running to make the scenes realistic.

In a recent interview, Marian Rivera shared that one of the reasons why she accepted this project was because of its message. She highlighted the importance of the message that the audience can get from a certain project.

The actress also said that after watching Balota, she hopes people will realize the importance of voting and she is excited to impart this message to the public.

She said that doing her stunts was really difficult but this was nothing compared to the hardships and sacrifices made by poll watchers and teachers during elections. The actress mentioned that her character’s determination to protect the ballots was so admirable.

Marian stressed that even though teachers were not paid for their sacrifices they made to protect the people’s vote, still they were doing this as part of their responsibilities.

The Kapuso star also shared that doing this film gave her a new sense of fulfillment. “Lagi kong sinasabi, lalo sa asawa ko, ang tagal ko sa showbiz pero bumalik ang fulfillment ko sa sarili ko,” the actress said about what Balota made her feel.

After filming, Marian Rivera said that she and Direk Kip felt a certain “separation anxiety.” They shot this film for about a week and she was emotional when the filming was over. The actress said that she missed Balota and everyone she worked with on the set.
