Gen Zs just discovered the charm of Rico Yan and with the viral content involving the late actor, his brother has this to say.
RICO YAN – The brother of the late actor, Bobby Yan, has this to say regarding the latest online involving his late brother.
More than two decades since the passing of late 90’s heartthrob Rico Yan, he became a trending topic online. There’s a reason behind this and it could be because it’s just recently that Gen Zs discovered his charm.
Many clips of him from his movies is circulating online and from what started as a viral post paying homage to the late actor, ended up into becoming a content. Many Gen Zs visited his grave and made this visit their content to which, at one point, made some say that the late actor’s grave has become a new “tourist spot”.
In a previous article, Jessy Mendiola reacted to the trend and according to her, such an action to the already deceased actor show disrespect and lack of decency. She criticized those who visit just for the likes. For her, this trend showed that his legacy is being used for clout.
Other netizens have the same opinion as Mendiola condemning the trend and they also asked the people to stop it and allow the actor to rest in peace.
With all these buzz going around online, ABS-CBN reached out to the late actor’s family and his brother Bobby Yan has expressed his opinion about this. According to him, their family will not release any statement for now. What’s happening is “nothing to be concerned about, for now” but once it starts to bother the neighboring mausoleums, that is the time they are going to take an action.
They believe that Rico has always been close to the youth and if he’s here, he won’t turn the Gen Zs away. They welcome everyone who would like to visit the actor as it has always been this way 22 years ago.
To recall, Rico died at the age of 27 in 2002 due to acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis.
