Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo To Not Attend July 10 Senate Hearing
ALICE GUO – Atty. Stephen David said that the suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor will not attend the July 10 Senate Hearing because she was “traumatized”.
The name of Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Guo whose identity is being questioned gained instant popularity not only in her province but in the whole Philippines. Several hearings were held in the Senate in the pursuit of clarifying the identity of the wealthy Mayor.
Guo is serving as the mayor of Bamban, Tarlac since June 30, 2022. She is currently facing allegations of involvement to the illegal activities by the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) after the raids in Bamban.
The inconsistencies in the documents and testimony of the Bamban, Tarlac Mayor also trigger questions about her identity. She cannot recall the location where she was born but, based on her Birth Certificate, she was born in Barangay Matatalaib in Tarlac.
The National Bureau of Investigation, more popularly called NBI, confirmed that the fingerprints of Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo matched with the fingerprints of Guo Hua Ping.
Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo is set for a Senate Hearing today, July 10, for her alleged involved in the unlicensed Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators. However, according to her lawyer, Attorney Stephen David, the Mayor will not be able to attend the Senate Hearing.
David stressed that Mayor Alice Guo was “traumatized” and she’s emotionally and physically drained from the accusations against her. On this, Senator Risa Hontiveros stressed the obligations of the Mayor to respect the laws in the Philippines.
The camp of Mayor Guo justified their move as “self-incrimation” but, according to the Senator, it is already an overused alibi by those who want to escape the investigations. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Senate President Chiz Escudero is ready to sign the arrest warrant against the Bamban, Tarlac Mayor.
The Senate President is ready to give the go signal over the arrest of Guo in case Sen. Hontiveros, the chairperson of the Committee on Women and Children, will request for it. Previously. Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian said that Guo can be a star witness.
