A civil engineer dad goes viral online after transforming a simple bingo game into a mini math quiz bee.
Recently, Ciela Paneda, a Facebook user, shared a video of a civil engineer dad who turned a simple bingo game into a mini math quiz bee. The video went viral online and garnered various reactions from the netizens.
The story began at Ciela’s grandfather’s birthday celebration. Guests, including Ciela’s grandmother, were playing a casual game of bingo. Seeing an opportunity for fun, Ciela and her family decided to join in.
The atmosphere was fun and everyone was enjoying the game. However, as the game progressed, fatigue set in, and the task of calling out bingo numbers was passed to Ciela’s father, a civil engineer by profession.
Ciela recounted that they were playing bingo for fun, but they all got tired of calling out the numbers. So, her dad took over and started using mathematical equations to call out the bingo numbers.
Instead of just announcing the numbers, Ciela’s father incorporated math problems into the game. Players had to solve these equations to figure out the numbers, adding a twist to the traditional game of bingo.

Ciela found the situation amusing and decided to record it. She thought it would be fun to record because it was entertaining how her dad made them all happy and at the same time, forced them to think because their brains weren’t ready for it.
“Naisip ko po na videohan kasi nakakatuwa lang po na napasaya niya kami (and) at the same time, napilitan din mag-isip kasi hindi ready ‘yung mga utak namin,” Paneda said.
The video captured the joyous moment that ensued as players tried to solve the equations quickly to mark their bingo cards.
