Cops Arrest Police Officer & 2 Others for Selling Illegal Gun in Taguig City

A police officer and two other individuals were arrested after being caught selling illegal firearms in Taguig City.

Recently, the police authorities arrested a policeman and two others for illegal firearms. Some of the confiscated firearms bore the logo of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

The three suspects were cornered on Acacia Street, Barangay Cembo during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Southern Police District (SPD) on Tuesday (July 2, 2024). A police asset reportedly purchased a gun, leading to their arrest.

Police Major Maynard Pascual, Acting Chief of the SPD’s District Operation Unit, stated, “‘Yung police na isa sa suspek is active, assigned siya sa ating Regional Holding and Accounting Section or the RPAS of NCRPO. Itong pulis na ito is meron pending case of illegal discharge of firearms.”

The authorities confiscated two 9mm pistols and a high-caliber firearm from the suspects, which they were allegedly selling for P250,000. One of the weapons had the AFP logo. The suspects’ customers were reportedly from Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

The arrested individuals refused to give statements and are being investigated for possible links to a larger syndicate. They are facing charges of violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and are currently detained at the SPD Headquarters.
