Palace Issues Statement on Former First Lady Imelda Marcos’ 95th Birthday

Former First Lady Imelda Marcos recently turned 95 years old and she had a “quiet celebration with family” as announced by the Palace.

The Marcos is one of the most popular surnames in the Philippine political arena. Two (2) members of the family served as the country’s Chief Executive — the late former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and Pres. Bongbong Marcos.

The late former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. has served as the Philippines’ chief executive for more than 20 years. He served as the country’s president from 1965 until his ouster in 1986.

Former First Lady Imelda Marcos is the longest-serving First Lady in the country. Following her husband’s ouster, they lived in abroad for several years and was only allowed to go home to the country after his death.

When Imelda Marcos returned from their exile in Hawaii, the former First Lady returned to politics. She has served as a Leyte representative from 1995 to 1998. She also represented Ilocos Norte from 2010 to 2019.

This year, former First Lady Imelda Marcos is turning 95 years old. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Palace previously released a statement saying that the 95th birthday of the Marcos matriarch will have “a quiet celebration with family and friends”.

On social media, Pres. Bongbong Marcos greeted his mother a happy birthday. The President also expressed his gratitude for the things he learned from his mother which she also taught to her grandchildren.

“Happy, happy birthday mom. Thank you for teaching me and your grandchildren to be gracious, kind and compassionate,” the President said.

The Marcos family is known for their lavish celebrations. During her 94th birthday, a party feted with song and dance was held at the Presidential Palace in Manila.
