Boy Dila Issues Public Apology for His Inappropriate Behavior During Wattah Wattah Festival
BOY DILA – Lexter Castro has publicly apologized for his inappropriate behavior during the Wattah Wattah Festival in San Juan.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora presented Lexter Castro known as ‘Boy Dila’, the man in a viral video who used a water gun to drench a delivery rider during the Wattah! Wattah! Festival.
On Tuesday (July 2, 2024), at a press conference at San Juan City Hall, Castro asked for forgiveness from the public, especially the rider he soaked. The incident has caused him and his family a lot of stress.
The incident happened on June 24, 2024, during the Wattah Wattah Festival. Castro ignored the delivery rider’s request not to be doused, which made many people angry when the video spread on social media.
Looking sad at the press conference on July 2, 2024, Castro said he was sorry for what he did.
“Nagpapasensya po ako sa aming mayor sa nagawa ko po. Dahil po sa’kin, nasisira po ang San Juan City po. Sa lahat po, humihingi po ako ng paumanhin sa inyo, sa mga nasa nasabi ko po sa inyo, lalong-lalo na po sa rider,” Castro said.
Boy, Dila also mentioned that he and his family were threatened after the incident.
Mayor Zamora reminded the public that it is important to act responsibly, even during fun events. “While the Wattah Wattah Festival is a time for fun and celebration, it is essential to remember that our actions have consequences,” Zamora said.
Instead of punishing Castro, Mayor Zamora shook hands with him to show that Castro’s apology was sincere. The Mayor praised Castro for admitting his mistake and asking for forgiveness, saying it was a valuable lesson for him.
“Yung pagshe-shakehands namin, ito ay isang simbolo ng pag-ako sa kanyang mga nagawa na sa totoo lang ay naging dahilan naman po ng pagkakaroon ng kahihiyan dahil nga po sa kumalat sa social media, nagkaroon po talaga ito ng kahihiyan sa aming lungsod,” Zamora said.
Zamora also explained that Castro did not break any city rules, as the festival activities were not against the law. However, Castro could face legal charges if the rider’s property was damaged and the rider decided to file a complaint.
Castro also asked the public not to involve his family in the controversy.
Zamora reminded everyone that while the festival is a time for fun, it’s important to respect others and make sure such incidents don’t happen again.
