Celebrity couple Carlo Aquino and Charlie Dizon revealed how the proposal happened when they had their vacation in Bangkok, Thailand.

Carlo and Charlie surprised many people when they tied the knot on June 9. Prior to this, rumors have been circulating that a wedding will happen. However, it was not known to many people that they got engaged.

In an interview with MetroStyle, the celebrity couple revealed that the engagement happened in April 2023 when they went to Thailand for the Songkran Festival. They also celebrated Charlie’s birthday.

Charlie Dizon revealed that she did not expect Carlo Aquino would propose at that time because their relationship had not turned one year yet.

The actress shared that before it all happened, Carlo had a video call with Charlie’s family to tell them that he was already planning to propose. Then, the actor shared that he called Charlie’s family during the time he was stuck in the truck going to where he would buy the engagement ring.

“Nakakatawa ‘yung video call with her parents at tsaka sisters. So from Commonwealth going to Makati, magkausap kami. Sobrang traffic. Three hours kaming magkausap, tapos ayaw maniwala ng mom niya na magpro-propose na ako,” Carlo shared.

The actor already met Charlie’s parents when he went to the US to tell them that he would court the actress.

The proposal happened at a fine dining restaurant in Bangkok. Carlo asked for help from his Thai friend in order to pull this off. He told Charlie to wear a dress because it was a fine dining restaurant because she had no plan to look formal at that time.

“Ayaw niyang mag-dress. So sabi ko, ‘Kailangang mag-dress ka na.’ So finally, napilit ko siya, ta’s dinala na namin siya doon,” he shared.

After their dinner, the actor asked the actress, “Ano nang plano natin? Ano nang next step?” Charlie was facing Carlo’s best friend at that time and he looked at the actor, he was already on his knee.

The actress said that she was not able to say yes immediately but in her mind she thought she already answered. Carlo had to ask her what her reply was.

“Akala ko, nag-‘yes’ agad ako. Ta’s hindi pa pala. So parang sabi niya, ‘So ano’ng sagot?’ Sabi niya, ‘Kasi lahat ’to alam na ng lahat. Don’t worry!’ So du’n ko sinabi, ‘Oo naman!’ Akala ko nag-‘yes’ talaga ko in my mind. ‘Yung parang ganu’n, sa sobrang taranta ko,” Charlie Dizon shared.

After the proposal, the actress could still not believe it. She even asked their companions if Carlo Aquino really proposed or if it was just a prank.
