Lady Passenger Nearly Falls onto Train Tracks as She Suddenly Collapsed

LRT INCIDENT – A lady passenger suddenly collapsed at the LRT-1 Doroteo Jose Station and fell onto the train tracks.

On Tuesday afternoon (June 25, 2024), a 50-year-old woman ended up on the train tracks at the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) Doroteo Jose Station in Manila. The incident caused confusion and concern among people at the station and those who heard about it later.

The Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) told the people that the woman had jumped onto the tracks around 12:41 pm.

However, the Manila Police District (MPD) investigation revealed that she had fainted and fallen due to a pre-existing medical condition.

The LRMC team quickly helped the woman. They said she was awake and only had small injuries. They took her to a hospital to make sure she was okay.

Because of the incident, the LRT-1 had to stop running for a short time. It started working normally again about 17 minutes later, at 12:59 PM.

The MPD clarified that the 50-year-old passenger did not jump but lost consciousness and fell onto the tracks. She was waiting for a train to Baclaran station when she fainted and fell.

Security personnel at the station quickly signaled the train operator, who managed to stop the train in time. The woman sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

The woman had a history of hypertension and stroke, which likely caused her to faint. This information suggests that the incident was a medical emergency rather than an intentional act. The video quickly spread like wildfire online and elicited comments from netizens.

Both the LRMC and MPD are conducting thorough investigations to ensure passenger safety and understand the circumstances that led to the fall.
