Groom in Zamboanga del Sur Suffers Amnesia One Day After Wedding, Forgets Wife and Children
A groom in Zamboanga del Sur reportedly suffered an amnesia a day after his wedding forgetting his wife and two children.
Jan and Loaren Campaner, a newlywed couple from Zamboanga del Sur, are facing a great challenge. Jan suffered from amnesia just one day after their wedding, forgetting not only the wedding but also their entire relationship and their two children.
Loaren had always dreamed of marrying Jan in a church. Their wedding was a joyous event, filled with love and celebration, attended by their families and friends. However, the joy was short-lived as Jan lost all memories of the event and his life with Loaren the day after their wedding.
Determined to help Jan remember, Loaren reminds him daily of their wedding, showing him her wedding gown and other items from their special day. Despite these efforts, Jan remains unable to recall their marriage or their children.
The groom expresses his frustration, saying he can’t remember marrying Loaren or having children with her.
A medical expert diagnosed Jan with traumatic brain injury, which caused retrograde amnesia, preventing him from recalling past events, including his recent marriage. Additionally, Jan is experiencing depression, which further complicates his memory recovery.
Loaren shared that after their wedding, a family argument upset Jan. The latter harmed himself by hitting his head on the floor, leading to his amnesia. Jan’s parents had never approved of Loaren due to her past relationship.
The bride describes heartbreaking moments when Jan looks at her and their children without recognition. Their youngest child, who used to play with Jan, was even pushed away when calling him “Papa.”
Loaren keeps a framed picture of their wedding and constantly reminds Jan of their bond, showing him their wedding rings and recounting their special day.
“Sobrang mahal ko ‘yung asawa kahit hindi niya ako maalala. Gagawa po at gagawa ako ng paraan para maalala niya ako. Hindi talaga ako bibitaw sa kanya,” Beng-Beng said.
