Groom, Bride Meet Accident at Wedding Reception
BRIDE – The wedding recelption of Blake and Mary Greenwell turned out differently after she broke her ankle when she gave him a piggyback ride.
The wedding is one of the most significant events in the lives of a person. In most cases, it takes a lot of planning. Several months or even a year prior to the big day is usually allotted for its preparation. A grand wedding may also require a pretty huge amount. Only pure celebration and fun are expected on that day.
However, in the case of Blake and Mary Greenwell, their big day turned out differently when the bride broke her ankle at the wedding reception. The accident happened after she gave her groom a piggyback ride.
The wedding of Blake and Mary was featured once again by the United Kingdom-based news organization Kennedy News and Media as part of the wedding stories with a different twist. The newly-wed spent their first night at the hospital’s emergency room.
Mary is standing 5 feet and 3 inches with a petite physique while Blake is standing 6 feet and 1 inch with a weight of 136 kilograms. The wedding ceremony took an hour and it was followed by a reception.
However, according to Mary, when they arrived at the reception venue, the disc jockey was still setting up so they decided to have a photoshoot outside in the field. They took silly pictures.
The bride gave the groom a piggyback ride. However, what happened next was far beyond their expectation. She was not able to hold the weight of her husband.
“His brother held onto his feet trying to keep us steady, but that actually made us fall forward with my feet staying pointed on the ground,” Mary said.
The bride felt that her ankle was broken. At first, the people thought that they were just playing funny poses for the photo session until her ankle became swollen and they decided to bring her to the hospital.
She was diagnosed with a broken ankle and a surgery had to be done. There are screws and metal plates placed in her ankle. The newly-wed had their first night as a married couple at the emergency room of the hospital.
Looking back, the bride could just laugh at what happened but the groom is still dismayed. According to Blake, it was really noticeable that his wife got upset so he was really worried. He blamed himself for what happened.
The around 150 guests that they had invited did not stay long at their wedding reception since the couple already headed to the hospital. There was no more slicing of the cake by the newly-wed and the sipping of wine.
