Jake Zyrus reminded a basher of his present life now
Singer Jake Zyrus slammed a netizen who commented “Sayang boses mo Charice” referring to his former identity Charice Pempengco.
Charice has indeed captured the hearts of many fans with her biritera voice and her stage presence whether here in the Philippines or abroad. She was starting to be recognized internationally, especially when she was featured by famous musician and producer David Foster.
However, many fans were dismayed when the transition happened. The singer reintroduced himself as Jake Zyrus. Although there are those who accepted his transition, some can’t just move on from his previous identity, just like a netizen who commented on his recent post.
The netizen said, “Sayang boses mo Charice. Bakit si Ice Seguerra trans man pero never binago and boses. Sayang talaga.”
This did not sit well with Jake and he answered the netizen. He told the netizen to stop mentioning his previous identity. Jake also explained that Ice apparently did not take any hormone therapy which is a huge part of being a transman. The singer also stressed that the netizen should have researched this before commenting.
Other netizens also slammed that basher and showed support for Jake. The transman singer also pointed out the basher called Ice by his second identity while he was called by his “deadname.”
Then, Jake thanked a fan for showing concern and support amid this kind of negative comment on social media. The singer said that he was able to strengthen himself in facing negativity but he is tired of receiving the same comments about his identity now over and over again.
“We won’t stay quiet no more with these kinds of people. I know there’s a lot out there but she got lucky because I had a little time today,” Jake Zyrus said.
Aside from people who tried to bring back his old identity, Jake is also irritated by those people who would compare Charice to other singers.
