Darryl Yap will create an ‘It’s Showtime’ parody
Director-writer Darryl Yap teased his upcoming “Shametime” parody following the recent issue involving the Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime.
To recall, Direk Darryl was one of the showbiz personalities who commented on the “nakaw na halik” issue during an episode of the noontime show’s segment Expecially For You.
Main host Vice Ganda withdrew his apology for searchee Axel Cruz who allegedly stole a kiss from searcher Christine and this did not sit well with Direk Darryl.
The director-writer expressed disappointment in his Facebook post. He slammed It’s Showtime for not saying sorry to their guest who received bashing after the statement made by Vice Ganda.
In the following episodes of the show, Vice appeared to have fired back at Darryl Yap. The director-writer even shared a clip of this. Vice laughingly said that co-hosts MC and Lassy “parang ayaw umamin” that Direk Darryl is their friend.
“Mahal ko sina MC at Lassy, parehas magalang, mahusay at mabubuting tao – hindi ko naramdaman na gusto nilang itangging kaibigan nila ako on National TV,” the director-writer wrote in the caption of his post, adding that he did not know the reason why Vice did that.
In one of his recent posts, Direk Darryl shared a teaser which was first posted on Vincentiments’s Facebook page. It was about their soon-to-be-released parody titled “Shametime.”
The caption of the post imitated the It’s Showtime tagline: “Gusto mo bang Mapahiya?
o Gusto mo lang Mamahiya? It’s your Shame, It’s your Time Mamahiya na! Its…”
Based on the article in Balita, this will be released on June 17.
Meanwhile, last April, Vice Ganda was accused of copying Direk Darryl Yap’s monologue for his birthday performance on It’s Showtime. This was brought up by songwriter and content creator Lolito Go who compared what Vice did on the Kapamilya show to the video that Direk Darryl shared in 2020.
When asked about this “nangopya” issue, Direk Darryl said, “wala naman akong monopoly sa spoken word. Pero ‘yung sa akin nga, 2020 pa.”
