67-Year-Old Grandma Completes Junior High School

A 67-year-old grandma identified as Dominga Malinog proudly graduated from junior high school through the Alternative Learning System (ALS).

Despite her age, Nanay Dominga was determined to continue her education, supported by her son, Wilfred Branairos Malinog, who also happened to be her teacher.

Wilfred, an ALS teacher, noticed his mother’s interest in the learning modules he was preparing for his students. She would read and even answer some of the exercises. Seeing her enthusiasm, Wilfred encouraged Nanay Dominga to enroll in the ALS program.

Nanay Dominga who had been Wilfred’s first teacher in life, now became his student. Wilfred expressed his joy and pride. He found it deeply fulfilling to be able to give back to his mother in such a meaningful way.

He explained that it is rare to have the opportunity to teach one’s own parent, making this achievement even more special.

Nanay Dominga’s graduation proves that age is a barrier to education. Wilfred emphasized that his mother’s age did not stop her from achieving her educational goals and showed that it’s never too late to pursue learning.
