Kim Atienza Supports Daughter, Speaks About Her Suspension

This is what Kim Atienza said regarding the issue of his daughter.

KIM ATIENZA – The famous host supports his daughter on anti-Israel protest and said that she is “fighting for human rights”.

University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) student, Eliana Atienza, is the 19-year-old sophomore student daughter of host Kim Atienza fondly called as “Kuya Kim” in the industry. As per the reports from New York Post and Philadelphia Inquirer, she was one of six students who were sanctioned for joining in an “on-campus protest against Israel for its genocide against Hamas”.

Her participation accordingly left her “homeless”. She appealed to the university officials to cut financial ties with Israel amid the ongoing military offensive in Gaza. She also signed a letter that endorses “Palestinians who are fighting to liberate their lands from the Israeli occupation”.

This led to her suspension from the Ivy league school.

In an interview, Kuya Kim clarified her daughter’s “homeless” remark. According to him, she was removed from her dorm making her homeless but this does not mean that she is poor. He also added that his daughter was “not expelled”.

“She had some academic sanctions, but she will be back in the next semester as they are on summer break right now,” Atienza said.

About the protest, the former “Matanglawin” host also clarified that his daughter is not pro-Hamas. She is just vocal about the things she believes in which has always been this way and in this instance, she is a member of an anti-genocide and anti-war organization.

They never wanted to restrict her from doing what she wants as she is already capable of making her own decisions. He described her daughter as having a heart of an activist and for him, there’s nothing wrong with it as she is fighting for human rights.

He added, “Mama and papa are in full support of Eliana in her fight against genocide of Palestinians and unjust war in Gaza.”
