Bamban Mayor Alice Guo Admits Owning Helicopter, Not McLaren Sports Car

Bamban Mayor Alice Guo Denies Owning A McLaren 620R

BAMBAN MAYOR ALICE GUO – Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo denied she own a McLaren sports car.

Mayor Alice Guo of Bamban, Tarlac, said yesterday that she is a Filipino, despite being born to a Chinese father and a Filipino househelper. Guo refuted accusations of involvement in illegal Philippine offshore gaming operations (POGOs), espionage, or acting as an asset for a foreign nation.

Among the allegations, Guo said that being labeled a spy hurts her the most, asserting her love for her country and denying any association with espionage or foreign interests.

Mayor Guo revealed that her biological mother worked as a maid on their farm, and her father acknowledged her as their lovechild when she was 12 or 14 years old. Reflecting on her testimony during a Senate hearing, she attributed her nervousness to being from the province and feeling out of place in Manila.

The insinuation of deportation stings Guo, who adamantly claims her Filipino citizenship, a choice she made when her father asked her to decide her nationality. Regarding POGOs, Guo clarified that she didn’t seek permits herself but introduced former business partners for a letter of no objection. She admitted to offering the Baofu compound to associates, where illegal POGO operations were subsequently raided. Despite this, she denies being a protector of POGOs, now recognizing the need to regulate such activities in her town.

Mayor Alice Guo denied claims of owning a luxury vehicle, a McLaren 620R, which won a car show contest in Concepcion. She said that she borrowed the McLaren from a friend to represent Bamban in the competition.

Guo did, however, acknowledge her ownership of a helicopter, which she sold to a British company earlier this year. She explained that she acquired the helicopter in 2019 for business purposes, intending to use it for a motor taxi service due to its profitability at the time. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, she opted to sell the helicopter as her plans didn’t materialize as expected.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) recommended placing Guo on preventive suspension due to alleged serious illegal involvement in Philippine offshore gaming operations. The DILG task force forwarded the recommendation for Guo’s suspension to the Office of the Ombudsman.
