Barbie Imperial talked about her upcoming series
Kapuso actress Barbie Forteza revealed her unique preparation for her role in the upcoming historical drama series Pulang Araw.
Barbie is one of the main cast members in the said Kapuso series. Also included in the cast are Sanya Lopez, Alden Richards, David Licauco, and Dennis Trillo. In a recent interview, based on the article in GMA Entertainment, the Primetime TV Drama Actress shared her preparation for her role in this series.
In this series, Barbie portrays the character of Adelina, a Filipina Vaudeville performer during the Japanese occupation in the Philippines. She is the sister of Teresita and Eduardo, the characters played by Sanya and Alden, respectively.
Barbie Forteza jokingly said that the best thing she likes about her character are the dresses she wears. “Ang pinakanagustuhan ko sa character ko dito sa Pulang Araw ay ‘yung mga dress ko. Charot! Ang cute kasi ‘di ba? Ang cutie cutie. Little girl,” the actress said.
With a serious tone, Barbie said that she really liked the story and this was a beautiful project. She also said that the series will reflect what really happened during World War II.
The actress also hinted at what the audience can expect. She said that aside from the drama, the viewers will be entertained by the Vaudeville. Barbie also mentioned that before the war happened, the heavy drama was focused on the family.
“Siyempre kuwento ito ng pag-ibig, pag-ibig sa kapatid, sa pamilya, sa bayan at siyempre sa karelasyon,” the actress said.
When it comes to the preparation that she is doing for her role, Barbie shared that she had to take tap dance lessons.
“Kapag may bakanteng schedule nag ta-tap dance class kami para nga ‘di ba mas mukhang legit kapag ginawa na namin siya and kami talaga kasi ‘yung gagawa so gusto namin talagang mabigyan ng justice ‘yung performances namin sa Vaudeville,” she explained.
Barbie Forteza also shared that even though she and her character have similarities, she still intently prepares for this by watching materials with characters like Adelina. She and Adelina are both bubbly. She added that when preparing for her role, she would first read the script and the character sketch. Then, she will do the research.
