Vic Sotto shared was asked about rivalry in noontime shows
Veteran comedian-host Vic Sotto said that they have a different enemy when asked about the alleged issue with Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime.
Vic has been one of the hosts of the longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga since it started. The show has been running from network to network in its more than 40 years of airing.
Rivalry in noontime shows is inevitable. Vic is aware of this and in a recent interview, he was about this issue.
To recall, these past few days, the online community talked about Henyo Master Joey de Leon’s 15th-anniversary remark. Write-ups concluded that he was referring to their rival show It’s Showtime.
However, Joey clarified that his statement was intended for those who are spreading fake news about Eat Bulaga. He also stressed that the Kapamilya noontime show is not their enemy.
In a recent interview shared by TV5 entertainment reporter MJ Marfori, Vic echoed Joey’s statement. He was asked about the “bangayan” of fans of noontime shows. The veteran comedian-host said that he is not active on social media but he is aware of this.
However, he stressed that competition or rivalry is part of the game and it is part of life. “Yun ang nagpapasaya ng manonood, mga magkokontrahan. Kasama sa hanapbuhay yun,” he said.
A reporter asked Vic about Joey’s statement about the supposed issue. Bossing also stressed that they will never say that the other show is their “kaaway.” He said that it could be “katapat” or “kalaban.”
“Pero kaaway (shaking his head), iba ang kaaway namin,” Vic said and this made reporters laugh. He added that people know who he is talking about. The comedian-host also stressed that “kalaban” is different because this could be a friendly competition.
Vic Sotto also said that they had been in a friendly competition with It’s Showtime, sometimes they win and sometimes they lose.
