TAPE Inc “Utang” To GMA Network Settled – Legal Counsel

TAPE Inc has settled a financial issue with the Kapuso network

TAPE Inc legal counsel Atty. Maggie Abraham Garduque said that the production company was already able to settle its debt to GMA Network.

To recall, rumors surfaced that the production company mainly owned by former congressman Romy Jalosjos had reached P800 debt to the Kapuso network and this started from the former Eat Bulaga team.

In a recent interview, based on the article by Abante entertainment writer Jun Lalin, the legal counsel of TAPE Inc was asked about the debt it had to the Kapuso network. “Yes settled na sila sa GMA,” Atty. Garduque said.

She also reiterated that the production company will close down after its noontime show Tahanang Pinakamasaya was discontinued. “Hindi! Kung may new projects? Niluluto pa,” the lawyer said. In a previous interview, it was mentioned that the TAPE will continue to produce shows.

Previously, she spoke about the court’s decision to dismiss the complaints from former employees who left the company when Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and the rest of the Dabarkads decided to leave the production company.

Atty. Garduque said that TAPE felt vindicated. She also said that they are hoping that this court’s decision favoring their camp would be the start of the revelation of the “truth.”

TAPE Inc had a tough 2023 when TVJ announced their resignation. The legit Dabarkads followed them and eventually started a new show on TV5 titled E.A.T. It was because TAPE still had the Eat Bulaga trademark. TVJ fought for this. They started a legal battle against the production company to earn the name of the longest-running noontime show, which was coined by Joey de Leon.

Unfortunately for the production company, the court decided that TVJ and the Dabarkads had the right to use the title.
