Chavit Singson Apologizes After His Convoy Commits Traffic Violation on EDSA

Chavit Singson apologized and offered a P100,000 cash reward to the officials who caught him on the EDSA busway after he committed a violation.

Former Ilocos Sur governor Luis Chavit Singson apologized after his convoy was ticketed by Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) personnel for passing through the EDSA busway on Monday morning, April 8.

According to Singson, the incident was unintentional as his driver overtook another vehicle, but not directly in the bus lane. Despite this, he acknowledged that their actions should not be emulated.

Singson also explained that his vehicle had no license plate because it was newly manufactured by BMW (Baluarte Motor Works), an armoring car solution company that he owns. However, he assured that all necessary documents were complete.

Singson commended the MMDA personnel for their excellent performance and fair treatment to everyone, promising to give them a P100,000 reward in addition to paying the fine for the violation.

Singson was riding in his armored vehicle along with an SUV when they were ticketed by the MMDA.

In a public statement, Singson expressed his apology for the bus lane violation, admitting that it was wrong and instructing the MMDA enforcers to issue violation tickets to his drivers.

He also expressed his appreciation for the MMDA officials’ efficient work and equal treatment to all, and he pledged to give a P100,000 prize to the officials who caught him, through Chairman Romando Artes.

“I’m very sorry at hindi sinasadya na nag-overtake yung driver hindi naman sa bus lane mismo, hindi kasi nakasara kasi bukas. anyway, hindi dapat tularan and my congratulations sa mga taga MMDA na nakahuli, hindi po ako galit doon, bigyan ko nga sila ng reward eh,” Singson said.
