Claudine Barretto Promises to Wear Ex-boyfriend Rico Yan’s Watch
CLAUDINE BARRETTO – Optimum star Claudine Barretto pledges to wear the wristwatch of her late boyfriend Rico Yan once more.
Rico Yan passed away on March 29, 2002, at the age of 27, also on Good Friday, due to acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis. He was vacationing in Palawan with his friend Dominic Ochoa, who also discovered his body.
Their romantic-comedy movie Got 2 Believe, which he starred in alongside Claudine Barretto, was still showing in cinemas at that time. It premiered on February 27, 2002, became a box office hit, and ran even after Rico’s death, hence the prolonged screening.
Based on a report from PEP, there were already serious issues in Claudine Barretto and Rico Yan’s relationship when the Got 2 Believe press conference took place, but they managed to keep the truth hidden from the entertainment press. During the film’s promotions, they even rode separate vans.
It eventually surfaced that they had broken up while Got 2 Believe was still showing in cinemas, marking it Rico’s last movie.
Claudine Barretto granted a fan’s request regarding a wristwatch gift from the late actor Rico Yan for the actress. On Instagram yesterday, April 3, 2024, Claudine posted her OOTD and proudly showcased the new shoes given to her by Yasser Marta.
Claudine and Yasser starred together in the recently concluded GMA-7 series Lovers/Liars. They are also romantically linked to each other.
Claudine said, “Super late thank you @itsyassermarta luv my Rubber shoes [shoe, smiling face emojis]”
Yasser commented on it. The actor said, “Bagay sayo [smiling emoji]”
Claudine replied, “Thank you two times ko na nasuot”
According to the netizen, she couldn’t stop crying because of Claudine’s steadfastness in accepting Rico’s death.

Claudine said she would grant the netizen’s request to wear Rico’s watch again.
She replied, “awww dahil gusto mo sige isusuot ko yung WATCH NYA.Gusto ko happy lang lagi mga friends not Fans ha kasi para sakin ang fans ang tunay na kaibigan.”
