Young Man’s Funeral Earns Reactions Online for Turning Into a Mini Concert
The funeral of a young man turned into a concert due to the performances of various artists and performers, elicits reactions online.
Many raised their eyebrows at this unconventional approach, as funerals are typically solemn occasions, but some family members of the deceased responded to the criticism from certain netizens.
“Kasi alam kong ganoon ‘yung gusto niya e, doon siya masaya e, naisipan kong umarkila ng sound system and magpapunta ng mga performer,” said Franz Angelo Dizon.
According to Franz Angelo, he made a concerted effort to organize the mini concert as an artistic tribute to the late Aldrew. Aldrew was a hip-hop music lover and a former rapper known as Scapedoz.
Since Franz knew his cousin well, he approached artists and performers who were on Aldrew’s playlist, including Mhyre Conde, who sang in the viral video. Mhyre requested that people respect the tribute Aldrew’s family made for him.
Judging from the video, those attending the wake enjoyed the family’s initiative. “Kapag ginawa natin ‘yung alam natin na hilig at kagustuhan nu’ng yumao, sine-celebrate lang naman natin ‘yung naging buhay niya rito sa lupa,” Dizon explained.
The way Aldrew’s family mourned was indeed different from the traditional funeral ceremony, but they are now asking for respect for Aldrew.
