Barbie Forteza gained attention recently when she shared a video of herself in tears after fellow celebrity Rain Matienzo, who attended Taylor Swift’s Melbourne show, surprised her with an Eras Tour shirt and friendship bracelets.
“Overacting,” “Walang pambili ng ticket?” These are just some of the criticisms received by the actress after she posted a video of herself crying.
In the video, Barbie Forteza can be seen tearfully expressing gratitude to Rain Matienzo. Taylor’s ongoing “The Eras Tour” has captivated fans, with official merchandise becoming highly sought after at the concert venues.
Barbie, known among fans as a “Swiftie,” often uses lines from Taylor’s songs as captions for her social media posts. Despite being a big fan, Barbie chose not to attend her idol’s concert, leading to an emotional reaction when she received Rain’s gift.
However, some netizens criticized Barbie after watching the video. She was called “overacting” and “maarte,” with questions raised about whether the Kapuso Primetime Princess couldn’t afford a ticket.
Some advised the actress that there’s nothing wrong with occasionally indulging in what she likes and enjoying herself, especially since she worked hard for the money she’ll spend.
In an interview with GMA News, Barbie Forteza explained why she decided not to attend Taylor’s current concert. “Kasi, para sa akin, ito po ay sa akin lamang, I just feel like it is a splurge for me. Sabi ko sa sarili ko, if magpe-perform siya dito sa Pilipinas, I will definitely watch it,” said Barbie.
Aside from the ticket, there are additional expenses like airfare, accommodation, food, and local transportation, especially since the concert is held in another country. The Philippines was not included in the countries for Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour,” which disappointed many Filipino fans.
Barbie said, “But to have to spend for a flight, accommodation, and siyempre to maximize your time to wherever she’s performing, parang it’s too much of a splurge, especially I’m coming from just finishing a house.”
Barbie recently moved into a newly built three-story house with her family. “So, parang if it’s just for that, I’d rather spend it for something else. Feeling ko naman magpe-perform siya ulit soon,” Barbie added.
Barbie said she was extremely touched and appreciated Rain’s gesture, making her cry when she saw the gift.
“’Yung effort talaga ni Rain na pumila. Napakahaba ng pila sa merch talaga and yung friendship bracelet talagang made me feel like I was there.”
Although Barbie couldn’t attend Taylor’s concert in Australia, she’s flying to Canada for a show with her love team partner, David Licauco, and other Kapuso stars.
