Alessandra de Rossi received praise from Direk Zig Dulay
Filmmaker Zig Dulay said that the brand of acting of award-winning actress Alessandra de Rossi has become his standard.
Alessandra’s most recent movie project Firefly which was one of the official entries for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023 received positive reviews. The critically acclaimed movie directed by Zig also received applause at the Manila International Film Festival when the MMFF movie entries last year were brought to the US.
During the MIFF, Firefly received the Best Picture Award. Direk Zig was hailed as the Best Director while Alessandra de Rossi got the Best Supporting Actress Award.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Direk Zig said that this movie project fulfilled his dream to work again with Alessandra. They first worked together in the indie film Bambanti in 2015.
“Kasi ang tagal na ng Bambanti before. Kasi after ng Bambanti, siya pa rin lagi yung tinitignan ko, siya pa rin lagi yung mga kinukuwento ko sa mga kaibigan ko,” the filmmaker said.
The director admitted that among the artists he worked with, Alessandra is his only favorite. He also shared that the actress has become his standard when it comes to acting.
“Siya pa rin yung ginagawa kong standard kumbaga. Laging ano…laging kapag may kakaharapin kang ibang tao na artista, ang inaano [tinatanong] mo lagi e, ‘Yung parang katulad ba siya nito, katulad ba siya o magkaiba ba sila?'” Direk Zig said.
He also said that Alessandra was the first person who believed in him as a director. The actress shared that she is overwhelmed by the success that Direk Zig has achieved. She shared that when she is being introduced abroad, often the phrase “She has worked with Zig Dulay…” is included in the introduction.
With this, Alessandra de Rossi said that her friend is a famous director now and he deserved all the success after their first movie together.
Before Firefly, Alessandra did the Netflix movie What If in which she is also the producer.
