Licensed Teacher Left Profession to Pursue Business Ventures to Help Less Fortunate

A licensed teacher with a master’s degree left her profession to venture into business alongside her co-Spag-Asa volunteers to help the less fortunate.

Divine Melis Abela graduated with a Bachelor of Elementary Education from Silay Institute in 2017 and completed her Master’s Degree at STI West Negros University Bacolod. Despite being a licensed professional teacher and a resident of Silay City, she decided to leave her three-year service at St. Theresitas Academy to pursue entrepreneurship and assist the underprivileged.

Recognized as the Spag-Asa Coordinator in Silay, Divine also served as an event organizer, host, and co-owner of Divines Printing Services. Together with her business partner, they established Divines Printing Services, involving their fellow Spag-Asa volunteers to promote their business.

Starting with minimal resources and no sufficient capital, Divine and her partner worked hard to build their business from scratch. Their dedication paid off as their printing services grow, enabling them to contribute to the Spag-Asa Family.

Spag-asa is a business partnership group dedicated to helping struggling families and communities.

The organization aims to uplift the lives of those in need, particularly those in rural and coastal areas through various programs like the Feeding Program, Tree Planting activities, Projects Sow, Housing Projects, Tricycle Rent-to-Own, and High Five Livelihood.

15 percent of the income generated from Divine’s Printing Services goes to support the Spag-Asa Family’s mission.

Divine and her business partner have been able to help the less-fortunate individuals in remote areas, not only within Negros Occidental but also across Negros Island though their hard work and dedication.

Her advocacy serves as proof to the power of community spirit in making a positive impact on society.

In a previous story, a teacher expresses sorrow over state of current generation.
