Rita Daniela and Ken Chan almost became a couple
Kapuso singer-actress Rita Daniela shared her “binasted” story when Kapuso actor Ken Chan turned her down.
Ria and Ken’s onscreen partnership became popular when they starred in the series My Special Tatay. Because of that successful project, their tandem was given more projects after that.
Previously, Ken admitted in an interview that there was a point when he and Rita fell in love with each other. However, they never became a couple officially.
The actor said that he chose to prioritize his family and his job and let go of the romantic possibilities with Rita Daniela. In a recent interview, based on the article in Bandera, the actress recalled her past with Ken Chan.
The loveteam partners began as close friends and they somehow had a rule that they would not fall in love with each other. However, they just noticed that something romantic was developing between them. The feeling was mutual and they both knew that.
The singer-actress shared that she really exerted effort when she confessed her feelings for Ken. “Nagpa-reserve lang naman ako ng isang cottage tapos kami lang ang naka-reserve at that time, sa amin ‘yung buong bundok. Para kaming nasa pelikula,” Rita shared.
She had an intimate picnic set up in that place and reserved Ken’s favorite food. Ken recalled that Rita had a five-page letter that she read at that time and she was crying while doing that.
However, Rita was “basted” as Ken turned her down. “First word ang sabi niya, ‘I’m sorry, no,'” the singer-actress said. However, the actor corrected this and said, “Ang sabi ko ‘Thank you, but I’m sorry.’”
When asked why Ken turned Rita down, he said that he was not ready at that time. He just started his business back and he chose to be honest with Rita. The actor pointed out that he did not want to lie to the singer-actress and hurt her more eventually. It took them a year before their working relationship became okay.
