Police Arrests 2 Men for Allegedly Asking Private Photos from Underage Students

MANILA – two men have been arrested for allegedly requesting inappropriate photos from underage students online.

Recently, the Manila District Anti-Cybercrime Team (MDACT) apprehended a person known as “Ricky” at a restaurant after a student’s family complained that he had asked their child for private pictures.

Another individual, referred to as “Junior,” was also taken into custody in Sampaloc, Manila.

Minor Students

Police explained that the suspects befriended their victims online and promised them cell phones and gadgets. Once they gained the trust of the minors, they asked for inappropriate photos.

Alias “Ricky” used to work with the recently deceased brother-in-law of a 15-year-old victim. He helped with funeral expenses and even courted the victim’s widowed sister. However, after being rejected, he targeted the student instead.

The victim’s relatives discovered the incident, leading authorities to organize an entrapment operation against him.

Alias “Junior” is currently held in the Manila Police District custodial center, while alias “Ricky” has been released temporarily as the investigation continues. Authorities express confidence in the strength of their evidence against the suspects.

The arrested individuals have not issued any statements yet and may face charges related to anti-online abuse and exploitation of children, as well as grave coercion.
