Mark Bautista Reveals He Survived Childhood S*xual Abuse
MARK BAUTISTA – Singer-actor Mark Bautista revealed he was sexually abused by an unnamed family member.
Mark admitted in January 2018 that he is bisexual through his written book, “Beyond the Mark,” which became controversial due to his revelations. At the age of 40, Mark has not yet experienced being in a relationship with a woman.
However, he is open to the possibility of having a girlfriend. The singer disclosed this in an interview with Karen Davila on the YouTube channel of ABS-CBN broadcaster, which was released last February 8, 2024.
Mark Bautista also revealed that he was a victim of abuse by a relative when he was still a minor. He thought that this might be connected to his identity.
The singer shared that during that time he questioned that if that didn’t happen to him who would he be now? Or maybe he would be a different person.
“Nung time na yon, may point sa buhay ko na kinukuwestiyon ko, ‘Kung hindi nangyari sa akin yon, sino kaya ang Mark ngayon? Baka ibang tao siya.’
“May naisip pa ako na, ‘I’m sorry Mark na bata, na nangyari sa yo yun. You were so helpless, hindi mo rin naman alam. Sorry kung may nag-grab sa yo na something sa childhood mo.’”
At the wake of Mark Bautista’s deceased father in January 2020, he once again encountered the person who had abused him. He said, “Nung namatay yung papa ko, nandoon siya. Bumisita sila, yung family niya.
“I think, napatawad ko na siya. Whatever happens, I’m okay, a-accept ko lahat.
“Kung anuman ang mangyari, kung hindi na ako tatanggapin sa showbiz o wala nang show, ready ako.”
Mark Bautista expresses gratitude for having loving parents who wholeheartedly accepted his identity, even though they were surprised by the contents of the book he wrote.
“Nagulat sila kasi dun lang nila nalaman nung pagkadating ko and nung sinabi ko na magre-release ako ng ganoon [libro].
“Si Mama naman, I think may mother’s instinct na nilapitan niya ako sa bed, tumabi siya sa akin. Sabi niya, ‘It’s okay. Whatever happens, I still love you. Anak pa rin kita.’
“Si Papa naman, walang problema.
“Dun naman talaga ako masuwerte sa parents ko, never silang nagtanong, never silang nag-question.
“Never silang nag-judge. Madali sa kanilang tanggapin.”
