Catriona Gray talked about being a beauty queen
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray is different from other beauty queens and here is the reason behind this.
Catriona is one of the most admired beauty queens in the Philippines. She is the fourth Pinay Miss Universe and her journey inspired a lot of aspiring beauty queens. Even after her Miss Universe reign, Catriona continued to promote her advocacy.
In a recent interview by PEP, Catriona proved that her advocacy is more than just the beauty title and this is something that she will continue to do.
When asked what keeps her going in helping charitable organizations even after her reign, Catriona Gray said that it is because her love for these causes was not based on pageantry.
She pointed out that even before joining a pageant, she was already doing volunteer work and she joined pageants to bring her causes to a bigger platform. Unlike other beauty queens who just supported an organization for the pageant, Catriona worked the other way around.
She also said that doing these kinds of helping gives her self-fulfillment. For four years now, she has been an ambassador of Smile Train, a nonprofit organization and charity providing corrective surgery for children with cleft lips and palates.
Catriona has been actively supporting this cause as she has seen surgeries in five other countries and here in the Philippines. She also cited that hearing the stories of people whose lives were impacted by these causes makes her happy and fulfilled.
Catriona Gray also said that working with her fellow beauty queens in a recent project was something great but she stressed that this endeavor is not just for beauty queens. She added that it means a lot for them that other entities also help them to spread the word about the causes they are supporting.
“The journey should more than just be the title,” Catriona shared the advice that she would always share with her fellow beauty queens.
