Guide on SSS Sickness Cash Benefit Offer for Members
The Social Security System has designed an SSS Sickness Cash Benefit that members may file a claim for during illness.
One of the state entities in the Philippines with millions of members is the Social Security System. More popularly called SSS, most of its member populace is composed of individuals who are locally-employed in the private sector.
Several businesses and companies in the country mandate an active SSS membership among their employees. It widens the resources of the workers apart from what can be provided by the company. An SSS membership is a lifetime membership.
What usually happens in the case of locally-employed members is that the SSS contribution of the employees is deducted from the payroll automatically and it is paid directly by the company to the state-run social insurance institution. The employers pays a part of the contribution as well.
Aside from the locally-employed individuals, the SSS has opened the doors for membership to self-employed individuals, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), and voluntary members. Members who have updated accounts may qualify to the loans and benefit offers of the state-run social insurance agency.
One of the benefits of the Social Security System is the Sickness Benefit. It was designed as a turn-to for members in times of illness that leads to home or hospital confinement for at least four (4) days.
Under the benefit offer, the member gets a cash allowance for the number of days that he/she was not able to report to work due to the sickness or injury. Through the offer, the Social Security System wants to give its members the opportunity to take the time to heal and recover without worrying about their financial obligations at home or a lower pay in the next payday.
Truth be told that countless individuals who are in the employment field cannot afford to be absent at work at times even when they are not feeling well as they are worried about their financial state. Annually, a lot of companies allow their employees of a five-day paid leave including the Sick Leave.
