Reported cases against Apollo Quiboloy were discussed during a Senate hearing
Kingdom of Jesus Christ leader Apollo Quiboloy is accused of abusing female members of his church and victims spoke about this during the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality on Tuesday.
Senator Risa Hontiveros said that Quiboloy is like Socorro Bayanihan Services leader Jey Rence ‘Senior Agila’ Quilario as allegedly they both used their authority to take advantage of their members, based on the report from CNN Philippines.
Last year, a Senate hearing was held to hear the complaints from the supposed victims of the abuses that Quilario did.
On January 23, supposed victims of Apollo Quiboloy’s abuses were presented. They were part of the “pastoral” of the religious leader from Davao City. These women claimed that they were told by a certain “Jacqueline Roy” or Jack Roy that they would serve Quiboloy.
They were also told that being part of “pastoral” is a privilege because not all members are given this kind of opportunity and they were asked if ready to sacrifice even their bodies.
At times, they were told to go to his room and massage him and allegedly, those were the times the abuses happened. Two Ukrainian women also spoke against the religious leader. They claimed that they were also abused by Quiboloy.
When Ukrainian “Sofia” was asked if there were minors who were abused, she said that she didn’t know but she recalled a time when a senior pastoral saw her crying. Sofia said that she was told by the senior pastoral that she was already there when she was 12 years old.
Another victim alias “Amanda” was presented and she said, “Sabi niya(Jacqueline Roy) na parte daw ng trabaho ng ministry of pastorals na imasahe daw si Quiboloy.” She also said that those in “pastoral” were given privileges such as comfortable air-conditioned houses with heated shower, delicious foods, and the privilege to join Quiboloy during lunch or dinner.
Amanda also said that Apollo Quiboloy’s camp filed a cyber libel case against her. She also claimed that other member were harassing him and throwing nasty words at her and her family on social media.
