LTO Issues Show Cause Order vs Vehicle Owner Involved in Series of Traffic Altercations
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) summoned the vehicle owner after the driver’s third confrontation was caught on camera.
The LTO has issued a show cause order against the registered owner of a vehicle whose driver has been caught on camera engaging in altercations with fellow motorists not once, but three times.
The issue began when a video surfaced on social media in the first week of January, showing a motorist speeding down a road in Quezon City. The driver confronted another motorist but failed to exit the vehicle despite the heated exchange. The video also shows the driver wielding a weapon.

After a few weeks, a second video, featuring a similar-looking driver involved in another road incident, was circulated. Similar to the initial confrontation, the motorist refused to disembark from the vehicle, continuing to challenge the other party with the alleged weapon in hand.
The third video shows a van driver confronting the individual believed to be the same motorist from the previous incidents. The incidents prompted the LTO to act against the vehicle’s registered owner.
Land Transportation Office Chief Asec. Vigor Mendoza II confirmed issuing a show cause order, emphasizing the importance of due process.
“As part of due process, we want to know the side of the person involved before any action of the LTO,” Mendoza stated.
The LTO identified two violations from the viral videos including obstruction of traffic and improper person to operate a motor vehicle. The possible penalties include the cancellation of the driver’s license.
