Jennylyn Mercado talked about being a mom to a daughter
Kapuso actress Jennylyn Mercado admitted that she is an overprotective mother to her daughter Dylan compared to how she was with her son Jazz.
Jennylyn’s first child was a boy with her former partner Patrick Garcia. She and her husband Dennis Trillo welcomed their daughter Dylan in 2022. The actress had to take a break from showbiz when she got pregnant and while she was focusing on taking care of her daughter.
Dylan turned one last year and Jennylyn decided to have her showbiz comeback. In a recent interview, based on the article in GMA Entertainment, the actress admitted that she felt a little new going back to acting after more than a year of focusing on taking care of her family.
In a previous statement, Jennylyn said that after her 2-year break, she felt like she was a newbie actress once again.
“Nag-iba ‘yung ngayon kasi mas mahaba ‘yung time na puwede akong hindi mag-back to work agad o magmadaling bumalik sa trabaho dahil nandiyan naman si Dennis,” the Kapuso star said.
Jennylyn Mercado shared that she and Dennis Trillo really had a conscious effort in choosing to be hands-on parents to their kids. The actor also had a son, Calyx, from his previous partner Carlene Aguilar.
Jennylyn revealed that she is overly protective of Dylan now, unlike with her son Jazz. “Mas istrikto ako talaga, mas OA, mas protective ako kesa kay Dennis. Sa experience ko kasi kay Jazz, dahil boy, hindi ako masyadong ‘wag diyan, baka ano,’ ok lang. Pero may konting ingat pa rin,” she said.
The actress stressed that when it comes to Dylan, she is conscious that her daughter might get hurt. “Dito talaga kay Dylan, dahil babae, ayaw ko siyang magkaroon ng gasgas, ayoko lang ma-ano ‘yung face niya, parang ang hirap pagka nagkasugat,” she shared.
Meanwhile, Dennis Trillo said in a previous interview that he is in full support of Jennylyn Mercado’s showbiz comeback. The actor said that fans have been waiting for his wife’s return and he is hoping that they will have a project together in the future.
Jennylyn shared that her husband told her not to be nervous and just enjoy what she is doing.
