Pinoy Actor Jiro Manio Reveals Reason for Selling Award Trophy to Boss Toyo

Jiro Manio revealed that he sold his Gawad Urian Best Actor trophy to cover Christmas and New Year expenses.

Former child actor Jiro Manio recently shared the reason for selling his Best Actor trophy from the 27th Gawad Urian to Pinoy Pawnstars’ Boss Toyo for P75,000. He sold it to cover expenses for his family during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

“Yung P75,000 po from Pinoy Pawnstars ay ginamit ko pong panggastos namin ng family ko noong Christmas and New Year,” he explained.

Manio expressed gratitude for the support he received, particularly from Boss Toyo. The funds from the trophy sale were used for holiday celebrations and necessities

The 31-year-old actor got the idea to sell his trophy to Boss Toyo after watching Pinoy Pawnstars on YouTube. He wants his trophy to be displayed in the museum the vlogger plans to establish.

Despite having received various recognition throughout his child acting career, including FAMAS, Star Awards, and Metro Manila Film Festival honors, Manio willingly parted with his Gawad Urian trophy.

The celebrity emphasized that parting with the trophy wasn’t a challenge, as he entrusted it to Boss Toyo and was confident in the decision.

“Siguro mahirap din pero dahil nga nauunawaan naman ako ng mga tao siguro kung bakit ko pinatago kay Boss Toyo ‘yung trophy. Siguro dala na rin ng hirap ng buhay, siguro maiintindihan ako ng mga tao na kailangan ko rin, may pangangailangan din ako,” he added.

While there are suggestions for him to return to acting, he is currently focused on finding alternative work that suits him better.

Jiro Manio openly discussed his mental health challenges and acknowledged his past mistakes, expressing commitment to self-recovery. He volunteers at a drug rehabilitation center and appreciates the support he has received during his journey.

The actor thanked everyone for their continued support and emphasized the importance of embracing positive changes for the future. Currently, Manio does not have plans to return to the entertainment industry.
